Creative Cash – invitation to a crash course in creative funding sources

Thursday December 5th, 6pm – 9pm, Digital Media Centre, Barnsley, free admission.

Entrepreneurs working in Barnsley’s creative industry sector who have plenty of inspiration but not a lot of cash are invited to a free Creative Cash seminar to help them explore ways of attracting investment for their ideas.

The free ‘Creative Cash’ seminar will be held on Thursday December 5th, 6pm – 9pm, at the Digital Media Centre, Barnsley.

Hosted by Enterprising Barnsley’s creative and digital industries sector specialist Tracey Johnson, the evening will look at different ways of seeking project funding in a climate where grants are hard to come by.

A presentation will be given by Mary-Alice Stack, chief executive of Creative Sector Services, an Arts Council initiative which provides business support and loans for small businesses.  Damian Baetens of Transmit Consultancy will also give an expert overview of the Government’s Start Up Loans scheme for new creative businesses. And, the option of crowdfunding will be explored in more depth – looking at online crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Real examples of companies who have accessed this finance will be considered, to see what’s involved and what impact this type of support could have on your business.

If you want to raise money to fund an idea for anything from a film, game, product or production then you are invited to attend. This event is free to Barnsley businesses. Non-Barnsley businesses may attend providing capacity is available. A networking buffet will be served.

This event is organised by Enterprising Barnsley, a business support programme, which is delivered by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and supports businesses with growth potential. Enterprising Barnsley is supported financially by the European Union.  The project has attracted £2,259,511 investment into Barnsley from the European Regional Development Fund as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development, through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme.
